DigiCon Goes Digital: This Year’s Event Adjusts to the New Normal

In this day and age, going digital is expected

Just this week, fashion house Louis Vuitton launched their Spring-Summer 2021 collection via livestream. A week before that, videos of luxury brand Moschino presenting their latest line with marionettes instead of actual people were all over social media. From a decrease in physical functions to a rise in virtual ones, this is how companies are holding their big events amid the global pandemic. And just like the previously mentioned brands, DigiCon OMNI 2020 did the same.

The Internet & Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP) presented this year’s DigiCon OMNI with a virtual event that was held from October 5 to 9. Being hailed as “The OMNI of all webinars,” DigiCon 2020 brought together renowned keynote speakers. These speakers were comprised of Seth Godin, entrepreneur and founder of Squidoo and Yoyodyne, aside from being the author of This is Marketing, Angela Duckworth, CEO and founder of Character Lab and author of GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, Eric Ries, entrepreneur and author of The Lean Startup, Rishad Tobaccowala, Senior Adviser at Publicis Groupe and author of Restoring the Soul of Business: Staying Human in the Age of Data, and John Maeda, Chief Experience Officer at Publicis Sapient.

With a line-up that involved well-established and experienced speakers, it was no surprise that the event was filled with engaging seminars that were spread out across five tracks. Mindsets and Skillsets focused on stimulating innovative thinking within organizations, as well as improving resilience within teams in this new normal, while Technology and Humanity discussed the significance of bringing back the primacy of insight and understanding of human behavior beyond collecting data points. Platforms and Processes had start-up founders share their varying approaches on growth, leadership, custom acquisition, and operations, while Design and Culture tackled designing better solutions, apart from the insightful experiences shared by problem solvers and culture shapers. Lastly, Vision and Change dove into business reinvention in the new normal through bold visions for the future, as well as rediscovering their purpose.

In between talks, DigiCon 2020 also included a Boomerang Showcase that featured video submissions from different agencies exhibiting their examples of digital marketing excellence. The event’s delegates still have the chance to join breakout sessions, visit virtual booths of exhibitors and partners, and watch keynote talks while mingling with participants that share their interests. These can all be accessed at the official Digicon website up to 7 days after the event.
