The fashion industry is mourning the death of Dennis Celestial last January 10

When you think of show-stopping looks, intricate costumes that includes towering crowns, gilded wings, or full body armor, Filipino costume and accessory designer Dennis Celestial automatically comes to mind. A veteran in the industry, his creations span throughtout the pageantry, showbiz, and fashion world.
He dressed the famous from the likes of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, to top local celebrities such as Nadine Lustre and Marian Rivera. Some of his work include a silver jumpsuit with a metal pauldron and vambrace by Ivana Alawi on her futuristic MEGA cover last year and James Reid’s gold armored sleeve during the MEGA Equality Ball in 2019.
Local industry professionals such as celebrity stylists, Bang Pineda and Myrrh Lao To, among others have expressed how Celestial wasn’t only a mere designer but he was an inspiring friend and collaborator who can make ideas come to life even at the last minute.
Rain Dagala of Team RAIN x EM, narrated on his Instagram story about the time he called Celestial for a last minute piece for Sam Concepcion’s concert. “I called Dennis Celestial one afternoon asking him last minute if he can make a statement gold chain belt to complete the look,” Dagala writes. The designer then replied, “Kung ano ano naiisip mo last minute! Pero sure ako hind ka matatahimik dahil naisip mo yan! Sige na po, gagawin na!”
“I am grateful for all the passion, hardwork, and love you put into all our works. We created many magical moments together. Nine tiles cannot encapsulate your brilliance and your body of work. Maraming, maraming salamat. I celebrate you, I honor you, and I will remember you with love and gratitude.,” celebrity stylist Adrianne Concepcion also captioned in her post dedicated to Celestial.
With his painstaking attention to detail, his pieces were truly a work of art. Rest in peace, Dennis Celestial.
