There’s a first time for everything and this time we’re stoked for DBTK and H&M’s collaboration. We’ve seen collections come and go in the H&M archive. You’ve had big names, such as Karl Lagerfeld, Comme des Garçons, Versace, Balmain, and much more partner up with the Swedish clothing company. Each collection caters to a different style aesthetic and clientele. Some have over the top frilly pieces for the extravagant dresser, power suits for the working yuppies, or deconstructed silhouettes for the experimental dresser. This time around we’re entering streetwear territory, better yet in the local setting.

H&M has just announced a collaboration with a Filipino home-grown brand Don’t Blame the Kids, popularly known as DBTK, for a capsule collection of locally designed urban clothing. This is the first time ever that H&M teams up with a Filipino designer. They worked hand in hand with Emil and Vince Javier, the brothers who joined forces to create DBTK.

It all started in the year 2014 as a streetwear brand that spoke to the kids of the future while incorporating trending styles of today. They’ve since gained a loyal fanbase of both male and female audiences, contrary to launching the brand primarily with menswear in mind. Proof in itself that streetwear has no limits.

The collaborative collection designed by H&M and DBTK is called, “The World Is My Home.” It’s a streetwear line that consists of hoodies, shirts, shorts, and accessories with surrealistic designs as the main visual element. The urban pieces were inspired by home. Whether this be the Philippines or your own humble abode, it’s open to the wearer’s interpretation. Although, in a literal sense, the collection can be worn anywhere–– from the house to the world. According to the Javier brothers and H&M, “Because when you feel at home in your own skin, you’re ready to take on anything.”
