Plus the young creative shares her creative process during the pandemic

For young musician Claudia Barretto, the pandemic and community quarantine have been a time for rest and trying out new things. Like many creatives during these trying days, she’s had to confront many of her demons—among them doubt and insecurities. But instead of using the tried and tested route, she decided to do something new: the unexpected. In the end, her risks proved fortuitous, resulting in a fresh, bold mindset and a new creative flourishing.

VELVET UNDERGROUND
The velvety texture andbold hues of red roses come alive in this fall look. When playing with such a vivid shade, know when to push and pull. A daring cat eye in rich burgundy is balanced perfectly by a berry-stained mouth and a carefully positioned, complementing warm blush

“I have been coping creatively by immersing myself in new experiences,” she shares via an email correspondence. “At the beginning of the year, I tried things I’ve never done before. Such as, hosting and dancing. These new experiences renewed my vigor for doing what I love.”

As part of the illustrious Barretto clan, showbiz was always calling, especially to the angelically beautiful Claudia. This year she signed on with Viva Artists Agency and has tried her hand in the entertainment world while still strengthening her musical career. All this and she’s also excelling in school, nabbing first honor at her university. Clearly the risk taking has paid off for Barretto.

LIGHT AND SHADE
It’s fun to look like a film noir femme fatale sometimes, but in real life, we prefer to keep our daring looks new and fresh. How does an ingenue like Claudia Barretto pull it off? By pairing the bold looks with dew-drop fresh skin

“I am currently on the roll-out of some songs I worked on at the beginning of this year. It is fun because this is the more glamorous part of the creative process. This is when I really get to experiment with different looks and work with other creatives,” she shares. “I also experimented with a different genre this year and am looking forward to the release of this project.”

She knows firsthand how challenging it is to pursue the arts at a time like this. “Previously, I hid behind my insecurities instead of working on them,” she says. “The biggest learning I got from this experience is that we’re all capable of doing anything we set our minds to. Through hard work and dedication, anything is possible.”

“Take breaks,” she says, reaching out to fellow creatives and asking them to take it easy.

“It’s okay to feel uninspired or burnt out. Sometimes we need the time to disappear so that we can come back feeling renewed.

GOLDEN CHILD
The hippie associations of the sunflower are thrown out the window with this classic bombshell look. A serious golden smoky eye is made even more decadent by a lusciously full and glossy red lip
