Here’s a Rundown of What Happened at the First Two Days of the Cetaphil Skin Summit

ICYMI, Cetaphil shone a spotlight on Skin Awareness Month by inviting different speakers to talk about their skincare journeys that the skincare brand trusted by dermatologists has greatly helped

Just last May 25, 2022, Cetaphil’s much-awaited three-day virtual event officially began. The Cetaphil Skin Summit focused on highlighting Skin Awareness Month, specifically the importance of skin health for those with or without sensitive skin and the best ways to take care of it with routines tailored to each individual’s skin needs. The event was graced by the appearances of esteemed hosts, brand ambassadors, and even board-certified Dermatologists. They all broke down how they have been dealing with their skin concerns and the role of Cetaphil in their skincare routines.

Our skin story

On the first day of the event, host Marie Lozano welcomed everyone to the opening of the Skin Summit and the celebration of an important milestone for Cetaphil—the brand’s 75th anniversary.

Marie introduced Raghavendra “Raghu” Sadashiva, Galderma Philippines General Manager, who talked about Galderma’s Advancing Dermatology in every skin story. He shared how we have our own skin story thanks to our unique skin and added, “At Galderma, we embrace these differences and offer cutting-edge, premium brands that fit people’s individual needs.”

Afterwards, Marie was joined by Jade Silva-Netto Ponoc, Galderma Philippines Business Unit Head, who mentioned that the company constantly conducts thorough research to ensure each product can be the best. “We have upgraded our best sellers better to meet the needs of even the most sensitive skin.” She also mentioned that through Cetaphil’s Skin Awareness Month, they are giving everyone a chance to discover how to care for their skin type, even offering first-hand access to experts in dermatology.

Dr. Francesca Sy-Alvarado finally entered everyone’s screens at around the 25-minute mark. She gave us a crash course on figuring out our skin type and knowing how to handle and care for it best, especially those with sensitive skin. Even Dr. Francesca herself, whose skin is prone to acne flares and the appearance of eczema, has struggled with keeping her skin healthy.

Eventually, she realized that less is more, and being smart about our products was the right move. She also shared that since many external factors can trigger our skin, “It’s essential to use products that support our skin barrier.”

Marie and Dr. Francesca even dabbled on what happens to the skin whenever triggered, and dryness, irritation, roughness, tightness, and a weakened skin barrier are all signs of skin sensitivity. This caused the board-certified Dermatologist to share some tips on prevention, which included avoiding cleansing and over-exfoliating, using pH-balanced products free from irritants, and supporting the skin barrier.

It wasn’t just Dr. Francesca who was open to sharing her skincare journey, but Cetaphil brand ambassador Bianca Gonzalez welcomed the idea. Without any filter, Bianca let everyone know her skin story that involved trips to her Dermatologist because of constant acne breakouts, taking oral medication, and eventually stripping herself from all the harsh products that were messing with her skin—calling it a “Skincare Reset.”

“Super simple lang ng aking naging routine. Of course, [I used] the Gentle Skin Cleanser, and then I followed it with the [Moisturizing Lotion]. I didn’t need [any more] fancy steps—this is really what helped clear my skin.”

Bright, healthy, and radiant from within

Day two of the Cetaphil Skin Summit was opened by host Laura Lehmann, who talked about the main star of the show: Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance. She gave us a quick lesson about the newest line from Dermatologists’ most prescribed skincare brand by mentioning that it has GentleBright Technology, a blend of effective ingredients like Niacinamide and Sea Daffodil, making our skin look brighter and more even in as quick as four weeks. This line consists of face and body products, more specifically the Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser, Brightness Refresh Toner, Brightening Day Protection Cream with SPF15, Brightening Night Comfort Cream, Brightening Lotion, Brightness Reveal Body Wash, and Brightness Reveal Bar—all of which will leave our skin feeling refreshed and noticeably radiant. Even Laura herself uses these products for her #RadianceRoutine, which gives her bright and healthy skin.

Moving forward with the second day of the Skin Summit, Laura welcomed Dr. Jarische Lao-Ang, who was excited to raise awareness on how to brighten sensitive skin safely and gently. The renowned expert discussed the difference between skin concerns like dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone before sharing their causes, and even going back to the ingredients Laura talked about beforehand, which were Niacinamide and Sea Daffodil. Dr. Jarische went right into it by explaining that the former helps prevent dark, the appearance of premature skin aging, and controls oil production. Meanwhile, the latter has both anti-inflammatory and brightening properties that effectively help with the overall appearance of our skin. Combined, they’re still gentle enough on our skin, even for expecting moms and breastfeeding moms.

After Laura’s chat with Dr. Jarische, she finally welcomed Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance brand ambassador Bea Alonzo to share some tips on remaining radiant. From trying out so many products on her face because of the want for instant results, the actress eventually realized doing so was a bad habit. After talking to her Dermatologist, she has concluded that, first and foremost, she needed to know the ingredients of the products she would use, especially since she has sensitive skin herself. Bea then shared her own #RadianceRoutine that helped her become #BrightAboutSkin. It consists of the Brightness Reveal Creamy Cleanser, Brightness Refresh Toner, Brightening Night Comfort Cream, and Brightening Lotion.

“[Having] a skincare routine is very important for me because our skin is a reflection of our health.”

The two ladies were eventually joined by Dr. Jarische, who explained the benefits of consistency in our skincare routine. “Having a [consistent] basic skincare routine is the foundation for all of us to achieve healthy skin.” It also begins with knowing our skin type and skin concerns to gently target those problems one simple step at a time. Afterwards, Bea shared how her regimen helps enhance her confidence, and how important it is to have a healthy, radiant look with what she does for a living. Simply knowing that her #RadianceRoutine has been working for quite some time now gives her the confidence she needs to go on with her day.

With all the critical information for our skin to get healthier and even more radiant on the first two days of the Cetaphil Skin Summit, it was indeed a much-needed event for all skinthusiasts of varying skin types and concerns.
