Forget the summer! American luxury brand Coach has us all excited with its Pre-Fall 2018 Collection. The collection is a just the right amalgam of dark and edgy meets romance and gentle grace. According to Coach Executive Creative Director Stuart Vevers, he described the collection as “a gothic, romantic fairytale.”
Aside from the enchanting fairytale vision, the brand always sees music as an inspiration. For this season, they looked up to Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks’ noir, romantic femininity mixed with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose’s rock and roll swagger and his idiosyncratic take on masculinity. Both music icons were a reference for Coach’s men’s and women’s collections. Exploring a uniquely American approach to craftsmanship, studs, fringes, and patchworks details were uniquely incorporated as into the pieces as a nod to rock and roll attitude.
Perfectly summing up the overall vibe of the pre-fall 2018 collection, a reimagined modern fairytale born in the city of New York, the fashion house also released their collaboration with Disney called A Dark Fairy Tale. The special-edition collection reinterprets classic Disney Princess tales with a dark and dreamy twist on Coach ready-to-wear and leather goods. Found and styled within the brand’s Pre-Fall 2018 Collection, the pieces play with spooky undertones and the tension of nostalgic Disney animations.
The collection features a fun juxtaposition in motifs such as Snow White’s poisoned apples and seven dwarves and Sleeping Beauty’s dreamy castles blended with retro t-shirts with rock-and-roll fonts styled with tough moto jackets and bold leather detailing. It also showcases authentic Coach American sportswear like jersey hoodies, sneakers and fanny packs with Disney inspired patches and embellishments.
Coach also reintroduced their iconic Bonnie Cashin’s Duffle bag with a new 2018 attitude. The bag was revamped with a tougher approach but still stayed true to the brand’s signature look from its ease, functionality, amazing quality leather, beautiful craftsmanship and a certain rigged toughness.
As if the new collection wasn’t exciting enough, Coach also opened its doors in the Philippines at the 1st Level of the Power Plant Mall. Designed with the concept of Modern Luxury, the 120 square-meter retail space reflects the brand’s design philosophy—placing a premium on contrasting textures and luxe materials. The warm and inviting interior, with its leather and natural wood finishes, reflects the sophisticated yet playful refinement of New York.
With a Coach store opening in the Philippines, its lifestyle collection has never been more accessible. To celebrate, Coach is offering free monograming services for the first 50 Coach patrons starting July 27. On top of that a GWP will be up for grabs.
