Amir Sali Channels Our Ancestor’s Royalty At The Philippine Fashion Week

By

The moment Amir Sali’s runway show at the Philippine fashion week started by featuring our motherland’s rich history and culture, he instantly transported everyone to the pre-colonial era. Entitled “Cargadas de Oro” (which means “loaded with gold”), his spring/summer 2019 collection channeled the glory and royalty of our ancestors.

With the tribal beats infused with contemporary music playing in the background, models strut the runway  like a true maharlika. From the first look featuring a black and gold ensemble accentuated with intricate lace details, to the last piece showcasing a rich amount of gold embellishments, Amir Sali’s collection was truly sensational.

And to infuse more regal aura to the collection, Amir complemented his pieces with gold headpieces and accessories—cue the halo crown, cuff bracelets, rope chains, and turbans. With its bevy references to the old world glamor of our nation, Amir proves that there’s no need to look far beyond for inspiration. After all, authentic beauty, class and elegance has always been innate in ourselves.
