Alexa Chung’s Collection Pays Homage to the 90s

By

Just after she was declared the newest face of L’Oreal, British It Girl Alexa Chung is off to an outstanding start to the new year with the launch of her 3rd collection for her eponymous fashion label. Chung has always had a penchant for the classic, whether it’s with her personal style or revamping vintage looks – her last collection called “Prom Gone Wrong” had influences from eighties teen flicks that Samantha from Sixteen Candles would surely approve of.

For 2018, the presenter-turned-designer has released a range aptly named “Fantastic” which pays tribute to the dynamic 90s culture of Britain. “The collection embodies Brit Pop and translates that creative spirit into silhouettes for the current generation,” Chung explained in a press statement. Featuring staple outerwear, tweed tailoring, oversized silhouettes, Chantilly lace and crepe satin full-length numbers and a handful of slogan tees perfect for Insta-worthy OOTDs. The chic assortment once again proves Chung’s prowess on style and the effortless trendy dressing she’s so known for.

Aside from the slogan tees, the star of the show is the track co-ords reminiscent of Britpop staples from bands like Blur and Oasis. Despite the athletic undertones the range seems to have, it’s a broad spectrum of style with even delicate dresses and slingback heels included for dramatic daywear or evening elegance.  “It’s important for me to create something both timeless and timely,” Chung said of the follow-up collection to her launch line. “For want of a better word, it’s Fantastic.”
