Alexa Chung Goes Back To Her Staple Trend From The 2000s

By

British It Girl, Alexa Chung has always been known as a fashion icon for years, having worn and originated several trends since her early days as both a model and presenter. A few of her most known ensembles are denim overalls, a classic trench, Chelsea boots, and floral dresses but the one pattern she has frequently sported were polka dots, a trend that’s currently booming for Spring 2018.

At the Dior show during Paris Haute Couture Week, we sensed a bit of déjà vu seeing Alexa along the sartorial space of Dior’s surrealist territory – her polka dot outfit reminded us of her staple piece from 2009. The presenter and model turned designer kept it simple, wearing a black playsuit paired with black opaque tights and lace-up patent black ballet pumps. To top everything off, she finished the look with an illustrated handbag from the new Dior collection.

Polka dots were previously a huge trend during Fall 2017 but it seems they’re sticking around for Spring 2018. Virgil Abloh, especially, took the spotty trend to Paris with his latest range of Princess Diana inspired looks, as an homage to the late royal’s feminine style. Most people might associate polka dots with child party dresses or Minnie Mouse but there’s absolutely more to it than childish sensibilities.
