Living in the Philippines where heat and sweat is experienced all year round, calls for a wardrobe of tank tops and sleeveless dresses to feel light and breezy all day. But all of us have experienced being self-conscious about our bodies, whether it be our arms being too big or having dark underarms. That’s why this year MEGA BeautyCon with the help of Rexona, gathered the most 2021 stylish influencers such as Bella Racelis, Bianca Gan, Jhaz Advincula, Bea Marin, and Ry Velasco on how they fit self-care into their routine. While Lyn Alumno, celebrity stylist and Nylon’s Fashion and Beauty Editor, gives us expert tips on how to feel confident even when you’re wearing a sleeveless outfit.

The Secret To Confidence

Being an influencer is not an easy feat with having to look confident all the time while juggling a hectic schedule and just like most of us, some of them have faced challenges fitting in self-care their routine. Nonetheless, they all agreed that self-care could mean many things. For student vloggers Bianca Gan, Bella Racelis, and Jhaz Advincula – it’s taking time to step back and care for oneself.

“I’m a law student and I can’t manage my time with self-care especially when we barely go out. So, with the use of Rexona’s Advanced Brightening and Anti-Stain deodorant, I still get to maintain my confidence even when I’m in the house,” Advincula says.

While for Bianca Gan who is currently in the states shares how taking that extra step for yourself even when running out for errands can go a long way. “For me, when you wear sleeveless tops and you go outside, it’s always important for me to wear deodorant to feel confident and secure.”

For fashion influencers Ry Velasco and Bea Marin, confidence also comes from choosing the right products that go with one’s lifestyle.

“I’m currently living in Siargao. My life revolves around going to the beach and being under the sun, so I’m always in a bikini or in sleeveless which requires me to always wax and be hairless. I found out the waxing a lot can cause your underarms to get darker cause it burns the skin. So thanks to Rexona’s Advanced Brightening and Anti-Stain deodorant I’m able to maintain my skin tone and be sweat proof as I go about my every day routine,” Marin shares which Velasco agrees with.

“I would only use products that I know will perform well and will give that boost of confidence. Just like Rexona it never fails, meron siyang natural ingredients such as sunflower seed oil that helps brighten the underarms and most importantly it doesn’t ruin your cute outfits cause it’s anti-stain.”

How To Slay In Sleeveless

Known for her unapologetic and daring style, Lyn Alumno is an expert in being confident while showing off skin. During her styling session, she shared her journey to loving herself which ultimately led her to wear whatever she wants. “Confidence is a superpower. And with the right tools, people, and products like Rexona that you surround yourself with, those are the ingredients to achieve that type of confidence we all want to have,” she says proudly.

Here are her 4 tricks on how to style a confident sleeveless outfit like a pro with Rexona:

1. Color Is A Mood-Booster

During MEGA BeautyCon’s “Bring Me” game fashion edition, where the influencers had to pick out an outfit, Advincula chose a bright yellow slip dress to show Alumno. The stylist approved the whole look, especially the choice of yellow to be the main color of the outfit as it looks great on morena skin. She also expounded on how wearing anything bright or sparkly is an instant way to feel and look good. “When you wear color, it instantly brightens your mood,” she says.

2. Check and Edit

Bianca Gan, who showed Alumno an everyday number composed of a button-down, denim skirt, and tank top, advised to take off the button-down to make the look lighter on the eyes.  The same happened with Ry Velasco’s night-out outfit, which Alumno advised to remove the blazer. “It’s important to edit your outfit before going out cause sometimes you don’t know di mo na siya kailangan like a jacket.”

3. If your “problem area” is your arms, highlight your collarbone instead.

While Alumno reiterated that everyone can go sleeveless, the trick is to accentuate other parts of the body for those who are still easing into it. She recommended knit boleros and off-shoulder tops, which are versatile pieces that can make any outfit look instantly put together while focusing on your collarbone instead of the arms.

4. Wear what you want!

We all have different body shapes and sizes, and there’s nothing wrong with that as the stylist exclaims, “There are no rules in fashion, just wear whatever you want no matter what people say.”
