2012: Two paths collide
In an interview with Kris Aquino’s then talk show, the politician revealed that he and Heart are officially and exclusively dating. Pressed by the talk show host, Chiz shared that Heart just came into her life through the late lawyer-slash-politician Miriam Defensor-Santiago. He pointed out that Heart’s entrance into his life was “very refreshing.”
During this time, Chiz has finalized his annulment with his first wife, and Heart and ex-boyfriend Daniel Matsunaga had broken up.
2013: Against all odds
With the news of the two dating, the parents of the actress did not seem too keen about it. After a lengthy explanation through a press conference on why they did not approve of the politician for their daughter, the actress went on national television through GMA’s Hot TV to address her parents’ statement.
“Anak mo ‘ko, pamilya tayo. Tama na, Mom. […] Lahat tayo nasasaktan,” Heart pleaded to her mother.
Chiz also spoke up about the allegations thrown at him, and negated the issues brought up by Heart’s parents.
2014: Promise of forever

Another three years down the line, the couple faced yet another challenge in their marriage—the natural miscarriage of their twins. Heart penned a heartfelt letter to her late daughter, Mira, on Instagram.
