You can now watch Dune or the Eternals in Metro Manila cinemas opening again this week!
As Metro Manila opens up again, movie buffs will be able to catch all the buzzworthy films being released around the world. The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) said that some movie theaters within and outside Metro Manila will resume operations on Nov. 10, provided they observe the minimum health protocols.
“As more Cinemas and Movie theaters move to open their doors to the public, we encourage all moviegoers to strictly observe minimum public health standards while keeping in mind the MTRCB film ratings as guide when choosing age-appropriate film content,” the MTRCB statement said.
Here are the standard protocols being implemented by malls nationwide include:
- Moviegoers must take a body temperature check before entering the cinema
- Moviegoers must present an authentic vaccination card that shows the completion of two vaccine doses
- Moviegoers and staff must adhere to the IATF’s current ruling on face shields, face masks
- No eating inside the cinema
- Theaters will implement “socially-distanced seating,” even for moviegoers who are entering together (two seats apart)
- Contactless and cashless transactions to be encouraged during ticket-purchasing
- Improved air ventilation
- Availability of hand sanitizers at every cinema entrance
- Mandatory hand-washing every 30 minutes for cinema employees
- Deep cleaning of surfaces, chairs between screenings
Among the Metro Manila cinemas that will start operations are Bonifacio High Street, Venice, and Uptown in Taguig, Century City Mall, Glorietta 4, Powerplant, and Ayala Circuit in Makati, TriNoma, Gateway, Eastwood Mall, and Fairview Terraces in Quezon City, Newport in Pasay, and Ayala Mall Manila Bay in Parañaque.

Dune
One of the most talked about films and you can actually watch in the big screen this week is Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. Dune follows Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man as he travels to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence, only those who can conquer their own fear will survive.
A Quiet Place II
Another film that you can catch now in the cinemas is the sequel to the chilling horror-thriller film, A Quiet Place II starring Emily Blunt. It was actually released in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. If you want to experience the film in the cinematic way, you can finally do so this week. The sequel follows the deadly events at home, where the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
Red Notice
If you’re up for looking into the world of international crime, Red Notice starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, and Ryan Reynolds is about an Interpol agent attempting to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted art thief. See it in Philippine cinemas soon, however, if you can’t wait, you can already check it out on Netflix.
No Time To Die
Watch the twenty-fifth film in the James Bond series, No Time to Die, starring Daniel Craig in his fifth and final outing as the fictional British MI6 agent James Bond.
F9: The Fast Saga
Another movie to watch is F9 or Fast & Furious 9 is the sequel to The Fate of the Furious in 2017. It is also the ninth main installment, and the tenth full-length film in the Fast & Furious franchise. The film stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and the latest addition to the team, John Cena. F9 is the first film in the franchise since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) not written by Chris Morgan.
House of Gucci
Coming in cinemas is the highly anticipated film of Lady Gaga and Adam Driver about the tragic and scandalous episode in the lives of the Guccis. House Of Gucci will be released in November 24 and is about Patrizia Reggiani, an outsider with humble beginnings, marrying into the Gucci family. Her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder.
Eternals
Lastly, the star-studded MCU film, The Eternals directed by the Academy Award-winning director, Chloe Zhao will come to Philippine theaters and is an absolute must-watch movie despite the mixed reviews. The Eternals, stars Angelina Jolie, Sebastian Stan, Kit Harington, and Harry Styles is about a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years.
