5 Most Memorable Fashion Moments of The Royal Family In 2018

By

2018 has been a big year for the British monarch. And as the royal family has undoubtedly the most sophisticated taste (not to mention their access to the most expensive jewelry in the world) they have been the go-to style inspiration for most women. Hence, the global phenomenon of the “Kate Effect” and the “Megan Mania.”

With the royal family’s polished, elegant ensembles perpetually present on every occasion—the royal weddings, state dinners, and other royal engagements—it’s always a great idea to start the year by getting inspiration from the regal fashion of the monarch. Here are five most memorable fashion moments of the royal family in 2018:

Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Megan Markle’s royal wedding was a fresh sight to see. Not only because Megan made a bold feminist statement at the wedding by walking down the aisle without an escort, but also because of her choice for her wedding gown.

The royal bride’s typical wedding dress normally should include intricate embroidery and embellishments but the new princess opted to keep things simple yet elegant. She wore a boat neck wedding dress designed by Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller where her veil showcased a special flora from every single Commonwealth country.

The Queen Hit Front Row

Once Her Majesty turned up to London Fashion Week to present Richard Quinn with a new award called “the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design,” the news instantly spread like wildfire. Seated beside one of the fashion industry’s icons, Anna Wintour, the Queen donned a dainty blue ensemble. She accessorized it with a diamond brooch and pearl earrings and necklace.

Princess Eugenie’s Royal Wedding

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank’s special day was in every way extravagant. Aside from the two-day celebration featured a performance from Andrea Bocelli and a star-studded guest list, Princess Eugenie had the opportunity to wear the Grenville Tiara, which was owned by the Queen Mother (Queen Elizabeth II’s mom) instead of the traditional wedding veil. The royal bride looked exquisite in a white portrait-neckline wedding dress by Peter Pilotto.

Megan Markle At The Fashion Awards 2018

The moment the Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at the Fashion Awards 2018, it was beyond doubt that the fashion industry fell even more in love with her. As she presented the award for the British Designer of the Year Womenswear for Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller (the designer of her wedding dress), Megan wore an asymmetrical black Givenchy gown.

Kate Middleton At The Queen’s Diplomatic Corps Reception

For the annual Queen’s diplomatic corps reception, the Duchess of Cornwall made a magnificent entrance. Kate Middleton looked radiant in a glittering custom Jenny Packham dress accentuated by sequinned detailing. To complement her look, she wore the stunning Lover’s Knot tiara that impeccably matched her diamond bracelet and pearl earrings. The Duchess also wore the yellow Royal Family Order that was awarded to her by Her Majesty.
