Within only a few minutes into the movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians, you will already understand the real definition of “crazy rich.” As what we’ve all expected it to be, the movie showcased an indescribable opulence of Asian wealth featuring grandiose houses, super cars, luxurious jewelry, and most importantly—a crazy rich amount of designer clothes.

From Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Malaysia’s Carven Ong, Marchesa, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Versace and even our very own Dubai-based Filipino couturier Michael Cinco, our eyes just lock in on each of their own magnificent creation making us gape and become speechless.

With an overwhelming number of impeccable million dollar dresses, here are MEGA’s five memorable looks in the movie:

  1. Rachel Chu in Marchesa

As a character who was looked down upon by the old rich of Asia, Rachel Chu  (Constance Wu) channeled her inner Cinderella by wearing a blue ruffled Marchesa ballgown upon arriving at the Asian “royal” wedding of Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee. Choosing the color blue for her dress was actually a critical choice for it actually symbolized calm and grace while being pressured of her worth and integrity as a person.

  1. Araminta Lee in Carven Ong

Araminta (Sonoya Mizuno) is a bride like no other. Instead of choosing a classic pristine white wedding gown, she opted for a creation of Carven Ong where a multilayered skirt was attached to the bodice of her jumpsuit. It was made of stretch tulle embellished  with thousands of gold Swarovski crystals that went all the way down to her feet. This look even became more memorable by not wearing any shoes while walking down the aisle because she literally just walked on water.

  1. Astrid Leong in Christian Dior

Astrid (Gemma Chan) is portrayed as the ideal woman with timeless elegance that all Asian women aspire to be. From spending millions and millions of dollars worth of shopping spree for her vast collection of jewelry and designer pieces, all of her looks remains to be undeniably flawless.

But the outfit that stood out the most was her look when she was introduced in the movie. As she walked inside a high-end jewelry store, she effortlessly took command of everyone’s attention by merely wearing a nude colored Valentino shoes partnered with a light pink dress and sunglasses that were both from Dior.

  1. Eleanor Young in Valentino

Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh) is the mother of Nick Young and is unarguably the epitome of a classic sophisticated woman. Being presented as a traditional mother in the movie, her traditional elegance was perfectly conveyed through her deep-burgundy silk chiffon cape gown by Valentino that gave her a regal look upon meeting Rachel Chu for the first time.

  1. Princess Intan in Michael Cinco

Evoking the real presence of royalty in the movie is none other than Princess Intan (Kris Aquino). Her magnificent entrance at the church wedding undoubtedly turned heads as the Malay princess wore a couture Michael Cinco yellow calado-inspired fully embroidered gown accessorized with a diamond necklace and earrings.

Crazy Rich Asians will open in cinemas nationwide on August 22, 2018.
