LIP TREAT

– Peewee Reyes-Isidro, Editor-In-Chief

INTERNATIONAL:

From the fruity chapsticks we used in middle school to the tubes that roll around at the bottom of our handbags, lip balms have always provided fuss-free comfort for the lips. One that remains to be loved by many is KIEHL’s Lip Balm #1 (P550), a light balm that nourishes and soothes dry lips. It’s not over greasy and neither does it feel heavy on the lips. It’s been a cult favorite because of one reason: it works.

LOCAL:

VMV HYPOALLERGENICS’ Armada Moisturising Protective Lip Balm (P990) is proudly made in the Philippines. It’s been around for some time and is often billed as a favorite among beauty addicts both locally and abroad. It provides powerful protection from the weather and other pollutants with SPF of 60+ plus and ultra-high PFA that soothes and moisturizes battered lips.

PROTECT AND PERFECT

– Trina Epilepsia Boutain, Managing Editor

INTERNATIONAL:

LAURA MERCIER Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector SPF 30 (P2595) is an iconic product, beloved for its dewy finish, moisturizing properties, and wide range of shades. It also offers robust protection with its broad-spectrum sun protector factor, meaning both UVA and UVB rays are blocked. For those with dry skin, its blend of macadamia, kukui seed oils, vitamins C and E, plus tamarind seed extract lock in much-needed moisture. Plus, it has a soft focus effect that makes you look naturally radiant.

LOCAL:

Whenever I get asked to recommend a good sunblock, I almost always add BELO Sunexpert Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50 PA++++ (P619.50) in my list. It protects effectively against both UVB (which causes sunburns) and UVA (which causes cancer and skin aging) rays and comes in two sheer, adaptable shades that can cover some redness. The finish is a nice, comfortable matte that won’t pill or muddy your makeup on top.

FINGER PAINT

– Jeb Fronda, Fashion Editor

INTERNATIONAL:

I like the BOBBI BROWN Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick (P1550) because it’s simple and straightforward. A user-friendly crayon with a malleable consistency that can be used as an eyeliner, eyeshadow, or even a combination of the two. The best part is you don’t need brushes to make it look seamless. With the use of a finger, simply swipe and blend then you’re good to go!

LOCAL:

This recent discovery may be the best all-around eyeshadow stick I’ve tried–the STROKES Eye Paint Duo (P428) that comes in an easy-to-tote-around tube with two different finishes in one. Their formula glides on smoothly and with its powerful pigment and long-lasting payoff, get a dose of matte or shimmer color in seconds without hurting your budget.

TAKE A HINT

– Lyn Alumno, Fashion Associate

INTERNATIONAL:

As someone who has sensitive skin, I don’t like wearing too many products on my face which is why I prefer the “less is more” wonders of skin tints. FENTY BEAUTY’s Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint (P1890) specifically gives a satin and air-brushed finish with just a few drops. Its mess-free application and quick-drying aspect are perfect for those who prefer minimal makeup.

LOCAL:

I’ve also been loving Active Skin Tint by ISSY & CO. (P499) whose formula feels lighter on the skin and the oil-free tinted moisturizer is skincare and makeup married into one. It’s made with niacinamide, glycerin, and squalene that hydrates the skin with major plus points with its high SPF!

PUCKER UP

– Mia Castro, Beauty and Features Writer

INTERNATIONAL:

A myriad of all the good things that a gloss and balm provide, lip oils are in the front and center of my vanity table specifically CLARINS Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil (P1450). Essentially a concentrated hydrating serum for the lips, it’s rich in plant-based active ingredients and gives off a healthy mirror-like finish. It’s also lightly flavored with a subtly sweet taste that’s a definite bonus.

LOCAL:

I often reach for the HAPPY SKIN x Love Marie Lip Treatment Oil (P599). Infused with vitamin E and hyaluronic acid, it retains water and locks in moisture, but most of all I’ve been obsessed with the slight rose tint that it leaves on my lips. I can freely indulge in every swipe without worrying that I have to break the bank to purchase another one.
