For most people, it could mean getting a new haircut, hitting the gym after the holiday binge-eating, or for some, it could be as simple as pampering the skin. For pimple marks
What it is: a highly-raved face and body oil, which is packed with Vitamin A and E (even skin tone); calendula, lavender, rosemary, and chamomile oils (hydrate and soothe).
How it looks/feels: at first, it’s easy to walk (or rather, scroll, for you readers) past this bottle of oil, but don’t be fooled by its outdated, retro-looking packaging. After reading several reviews online (even Khloe Kardashian swears by this drugstore product), we took the plunge to see what the fuss was all about. Upon application–where we had to massage the oil on our faces until it dissolves–the oil doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. It does, however, leaves a shiny finish so we recommend using it at night if you’re oily-skinned!
The verdict: after almost two months of use, our pimple marks were surprisingly a lot lighter, and our skin tones were a lot more even. Although the marks weren’t 100% banished, the unwanted spots were less noticeable. We have yet to use it a lot longer (the product promises to banish those dark spots in three months, BTW) to see if it truly lives up to its claim. But so far, so good!
For uneven complexion and fine lines
What it is: It’s the renovated formula of Kiehl’s classic powerful-strength line-reducing serum, increasing the concentration of Vitamin C to 12.5% and adding Hyaluronic Acid.
How it looks/feels: in case you didn’t know, your body doesn’t produce Vitamin C, which only makes it more essential for you to add this to your beauty routine. The serum feels like a regular moisturizer at first, but once massaged on the skin, it turns into a silky, powdery finish, which is fast-absorbing on the skin.
The verdict: after using it for a couple of days, the immediate effect is that our skin felt smoother and tighter, which stays true to its claim of “improving skin’s texture and radiance”.
For dull, tired skin
What it is: a cult-favorite hydrating and toning gel mask infused with real rose petals, soothing rosewater, and a “smart” algae that delivers moisture.
How it looks/feels: this jar of gel face mask boasts a refreshing scent, which almost reminds us of a fruit-infused summer drink. Also, you can actually see bits of real rose petals in the product. The formulation is light and it spreads easily on the skin. Once it dries up, no one will even notice that you have a face mask on, which makes it perfect for in-flight skincare!
The verdict: after washing off the mask, our skin instantly felt hydrated and toned, and it looked brighter too. When you need a quick pick-me-up before a big day, you can definitely rely on this face mask to provide the necessary glow to your face.
