MEGA 2018 Holiday Gift Guide to Westernwear

MEGA 2018 Holiday Gift Guide to Westernwear

By

F/W 2018 saw designers daring us to saddle up for the Wild Wild West with their unique take on Westernwear. Refined rodeo looks were rampant everywhere—Coach 1941’s goth meets cowgirl looks, Bode’s schoolboy-gone-west collection, Chloé’s textile play on outerwear, Louis Vuitton’s futuristic western mash-up, and everything Calvin Klein under Raf Simons’s direction.

From plaid shirts to fringed skirts, patchwork leather pieces to updated cowboy hats, knee-high boots to multi-buckled belts, there’s a little piece of Westernwear that’s sure to tickle the fancy of your gift recipient—or yours, for that matter (as it unexpectedly did mine). The trick is to ensure that the trendy piece can be integrated to their existing wardrobe. Something that can up the ante of your current style without taking away from it. Keep it simple and wearable, otherwise opt for a distinct pièce de résistance—a statement piece that will be well-appreciated. Perhaps a luxurious purse or a functional pair of boots. Whatever your decision, a little rodeo reference can surely pack a punch.

Ready to go west? To quote Nigel from The Devil Wears Prada, “…a hint of saloon and I’m on board.” Exactly.
